From the Chair

Firstly, as Chair of The Oort Crowd (or convention committee, if you prefer) can I welcome you to the Satellite 4 Eastercon 2014 website!

In our previous local conventions we have celebrated the Russians putting up the first artificial satellite, the Americans putting a man on the moon and the Chinese getting people to Mars (slightly jumped the gun on that one!). For an Eastercon though we need a bigger theme, so we are stepping beyond the Solar System and voyaging out to the rest of the universe — it should make for a great convention.

You can find out all about the convention on this website. Please come back from time to time as we will be updating the information as our plans develop. You can also keep track of us through our social network sites.

The convention will follow the successful pattern of our previous three events with an exciting mixture of talks, panels, quizzes, dealers, art show, dead dog party and plenty of silly events. We will cover all aspects of Science Fiction and Fantasy with the usual ‘Satellite’ element of science and space science thrown in.

We have a fantastic line-up of Guests of Honour with a Special Guest thrown in. The convention will give you a chance to hear and see their works as well as opportunities to meet them.

Please come and visit us at our convention table whenever we appear over the next couple of years. Don‘t forget to sign up! I look forward to seeing you in Glasgow in 2014.
